Lake Kaltern

The warmest swimming lake in the Alps

Lake Kaltern, lies glittering in a glacier basin. Wineries and gardens line its sun-drenched shore, and on a hill, the ruins of Leuchtenburg watch over this scenic jewel. One of the most beautiful retreats on the South Tyrolean Wine Route makes guests of Villa Naj particularly radiant: a charming in-house wooden walkway on the south bank allows easy access to the lake and promises an exclusive break away from the bathing crowds.

Your private place on Lake Kaltern

You enjoy unrestricted access to the sunbathing lawn, equipped with loungers.

Dive in and experience the excellent water quality and the fascinating variety of colors of Lake Kaltern. Sometimes deep blue like the sky, sometimes a green reflection of the surrounding landscape. And different every season: in summer, rowing boats, pedal boats, and even surfboards can be found on the water. With a water temperature of around 25°C, swimming and splashing around in the lake is pure pleasure for bathers young and old. But even the admittedly quite cool 15°C water temperature in spring doesn't stop daring people from diving into its waters. The Mediterranean climate on the South Tyrolean Wine Route probably plays its part.

And in autumn or winter? Lake Kaltern enchants in every season. An easy circular hiking trail leads along its banks, through the picturesque wine landscape, with the South Tyrolean mountains in view. Left untouched and protected as a biotope, the reed belt on the south bank of the lake is an important habitat for various animal and plant species. Listen to the voices of nature, feel the soothing energy, and experience unforgettable moments in one of the most beautiful travel destinations in Europe.
